On December 7th, 2023, Professor Kate Hui-Hsuan Chen, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences (ES) from the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), visited our Faculty of Geology. The meeting was held in a cheerful and enthusiastic atmosphere. Both sides shared about their training programs and research strengths. The ES-NTNU is currently one of the leading research and teaching units in Earth Sciences in Taiwan, with 21 professors and associate professors (including a professor in the top 2% of the world’s leading Earth Science researchers selected by Stanford University). The strong research directions of the ES-NTNU include Geology, Geophysics, Oceanography, Astronomy, and Meteorology. NTNU is also ranked in the top 500 universities in the world, standing at the top 9 in the field of education, and has close training links with leading research and training units in Taiwan, specifically: National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Academia Sinica.

During the first meeting between the two sides, witnessed by representatives of Faculty of Physics, Faculty of Environment and Faculty of Geology (HCMUS), Assoc. Professor Pham Trung Hieu, Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Professor Kate Hui-Hsuan Chen signed an Agreement of Cooperation between the two sides, opening prospects for long-term and sustainable cooperation in the future, including scientific research and training cooperation (with many attractive scholarships).
